Coordination of Collective Bargaining
The main objective of the EMF collective bargaining strategy is the improvement of working conditions of metalworkers. Increased competition threatens the results and the structures of collective bargaining in Europe.
Strong trade unions and coordinated collective bargaining are still the most viable answers to the dangers of social competition and wage dumping across Europe.
The EMF affiliates have committed themselves, for instance, to the following minimum standards
- EMF Resolution on Working Time and Undercutting Labour Costs (2004)
- Wage Coordination Rule (1998)
- Working Time Charter (1998)
- Charter on Vocational Training
- Social Charter
You can find a complete overview of the EMF policy guidelines and minimum standards on collective bargaining here.
The EMF coordination in these areas will promote employment, social welfare, better working conditions and a fair distribution of income.
