Collective Agreement between IG Metall and Volkswagen AG
(Company Agreement) 2006
1.
After 34 hours of negotiations a new agreement was signed on the 29th of September 2006. The main results of this very complex agreement refer to:
- Pay
- working time: time corridor of 25 until 33 hours
- safeguarding employment and commitment of Volkswagen to maintain and stabilize the production in the six plants in Germany
- safeguarding the number of places for apprenticeship
In detail:
2. Pay and working time
- Pay rise: one-off-payment of 1000 € for 2007, (will be paid in November 2006) -
- and an increase of pay on 1st of January of 2008 according to the respective increase which will then be achieved for the whole region of Lower Saxony (“Flächentarif”).
- Extension of working time: working time can vary within a working-time-corridor which ranges from 25 to 33 hours (for production workers) respectively from 25 to 34 hours (for white collar workers). Within this working-time-corridor employees get paid their usual pay without alterations. But:
- Partial compensation is paid for the extension of working time: (1st) employees get an extra-payment for their company based pension insurance (6279 €); (2nd) employees get an additional performance related bonus
3. Safeguarding employment and production
- Commitment of Volkswagen AG to maintain and stabilize production and employment in all six production plants in Germany
- New model of the type “VW-GOLF” and an additional high volume car-model will be produced in Wolfsburg
- Specific measures will be taken to maintain production in Hannover, Kassel, Emden, Braunschweig, Salzgitter.
4. Apprentices
- VW sticks to their commitment of offering and maintaining 1250 places for apprenticeship.
- VW commits itself to take on all apprentices who passed their examination (guaranteed until 2011).
