NITO, The Norwegian Society of Engineers and Technologists has approximately 66,000 members of whom 17,000 are affiliated to the EMF. Its members only negotiate locally.
In 2011, the average wage increase was 5.1% in the private sector. The union experiences a substantial turnover. For employees who figures in the list of members in both 2011 and 2010, wages rose by 6.1 %.
In comparison, the Norwegian inflation forecast for 2011 is 1.50 %. This solid increase of real wages is partly a consequence of a shortage of engineers in Norway.
