Negotiations and Strikes in the metalsector in NL
FNV-Bondgenoten
01/04/2005
Dear collegues,
After breaking and restarting the negotiations (last Tuesday and Wednesday) we broke again. The employers are sticking to their empty bags.
In these last days the employes have slightly changed some of their demands:
- Pensioen system: Employers want workers who can now quit on 61 to work a half year longer (was 1 year).
- Illness: first year 100% wage, second year 70%, but if you work partly you get 90% (was 100% resp. 70%)
- Longer working weeks: They withdrew their proposal and accepted our alternitive: 3 days longer only on company level, with full wage compensation and for individuel workers the right to refuse structurally
- Wage: They offer a structural increase of 0.85% for 30 months and a one time payment of 0.75%.
Today was our first day of strike (1st of April): almost 1/6th of all metalcompanies were on strike. The next striking days will be 7 and 8 April.
