New collective agreement for the Finnish metal industry
Report from Veli-Matti Kauppinen about the new collective agreement for the Finnish metal industry.
A new national collective agreement for the Finnish metal industry was accepted by the National Council of the Finnish Metalworkers' Union on June 30.
The agreement starts immediately and is valid at least until 30.9.2009 + an option until 30.4.2010.
Wage increases:
- A lump sum of 350 EUR by the end of August
- 1.10.2007 a general increase of 0,30 EUR/hour but minimum 3,4 % plus a 0,7 or 1,0 per cent increase to be negotiated locally
- 1.10.2008 a 2,5 per cent general increase, plus a local increase of 1,0 - 1,6 per cent
- Increases for 2009 will be negotiated in April-May 2009. If the parties don’t reach an agreement by the end of May, the agreement can be cancelled to terminate on 30.9.2009. Otherwise the agreement is valid until 30.4.2010.
The cost effect of the agreement in 2007 - 2008 is 7,6 - 8,5 per cent.
