New national collective agreements reached in Swedish industry
Industrifacket Metall, IF Metall, organizing 440 000 members within the Swedish industry has reached a preliminary agreement for new national collective agreements. The agreements cover five different branches and includes the engineering industry where IF Metall is organizing approximately 170 000 members and is the biggest sector and often seen as a landmark on the Swedish labour market.
The total value of the new national agreements is 10.2 per cent and is the highest value since the joint industrial agreement started 10 years ago. The agreement period starts on April 1, 2007 and expire on March 31, 2010.

IF Metall also succeeded to go against the employers demand to include the so-called opening clauses and more flexibility on working hours in a new agreement.
