Steel Industry No strike ! - Pay Agreement concluded
1. Shortly after the IGM executive board had decided to start the strike ballot, negotiations in the steel industry of Germany were resumed and in the early morning of the 11th of May 2005 an agreement was concluded.
2. The main content of the new pay contract is:
A lump sum payment of 500 € for the period: 1st of April until 31st of August 2005.
An increase of 3.5 % for the period: 1st of September 2005 until 31st of August 2006. (To illustrate this pay rise: The hourly paid wage of a skilled worker will rise from 10.73 € to 11.11 €)
The period of validity of that contract lasts till 31st of August 2006.
3. The contract has been signed with the reservation that the respective bodies of the employer federation and of the IG Metall confirm the agreement (deadline: 15th of May 2005). But, there is no doubt that the agreement will be approved by both parties.
