Strike in Corus Yasan in Gebze/Turkey
Workers in Corus Yasan CO. who are organized by our Union are in strike since 1st June due to disagreement in collective bargaining process. The main reason of this disagreement is related to wage provision that Corus employer repeatedly and strongly rejected to meet workers’ demand. Corus workers work for a quite low wage which is near to the level of minimum wage and they only want to receive a more decent wage. Despite high levels of growth rate, increased investments in metal sector and diminished share of the wages in total costs in general in Turkey, Corus employer insisted on a wage increase limited with official inflation rate. Workers in Corus are committed to continue their strike untill employer respect their basic right.
